The second release from this Kalamazoo based duo maintains the earthy, close-harmony vocal approach of their self titled EP, while expanding their palette to include strings, keyboard, electric guitar, accordion and mellotron. Recorded at La Luna Recording and Sound, Songs for Mixed Company is a complex work that moves between moody acoustic fingerpicking and fleshed out full band arrangements, all tied together by the duo’s intimate vocals.

Consisting of Sarah Fuerst and Phil Barry, Thunderbolt & Lightfoot have been featured on folk music site folkalley.com, opened for artists such as Robbie Fulks, Dar Williams, Henhouse Prowlers and May Erlewine, and also played some of Michigan’s finest venues and festivals including the Ark and Cooper’s Glenn music festival.

Phil was a founding member of award winning rock band Knee Deep Shag, former touring guitarist for RCA recording artist Rachael Yamagata, currently a member of americana supergroup Corn Fed Girls as well as contributing to recent recordings by singer/songwriter May Erlewine. Phil’s solo album Between the Carolinas was released via Princess Records in 2011, has received airplay in over fifty countries and has been licensed by the MTV, VH1, Oxygen and Showtime networks.

Sarah played electric bass for the indie rock band Doxie. Doxie released an acclaimed self-titled full length with grass records and they toured the Midwest and east coast. Sarah is also a long-standing member of Corn Fed Girls, supplying upright bass and vocal harmony.

Thunderbolt & Lightfoot - “Thunderbolt & Lightfoot”
"This Kalamazoo duo crafts an EP full of soft, acoustic songs with intricate instrumentation and thoughtful lyricism. With a touch of Dylan and fingerpicked acoustic guitar, “Dark Days,” described on the band’s site as “wintery,” carefully dances in circles around the sentiment, “I’ll be with you through your darkest days.” Picking things up, “Easy Now” brings in harmonica, vintage electric piano and drums with a steady pace and note-for-note harmonies. With its perfection in songwriting and voices that complement each other flawlessly, Thunderbolt & Lightfoot are enroute to win over many listeners with their haunting ambiance." – Ricky Olmos, Local Spins, Grand Rapids, MI
